Resolution on Student Support Services

Date

Background

Rutgers students are told about many of the RU Services when they arrive to Rutgers, but the information is not as widely disseminated afterwards. Students are as stressed or possibly more so as they enter junior and senior years due to ongoing pressure to perform academically (and at higher levels), but have other stresses such as many no longer have a meal plan, need to think about plans after graduation (getting a job or into graduate school), etc.

The New Brunswick Faculty Council has compiled a list of services to help increase the awareness of RU services to our students who are need of such services. This list was prepared with valuable input from New Brunswick Faculty Council members, from the Office of Student Affairs, and the office of the Counseling, Alcohol and Other Drug Assistance Program & Psychiatric Services at Rutgers University.

Resolution

Therefore, be it resolved that the New Brunswick Faculty Council urges the Chancellor of RU-NB that the following list of RU Services for New Brunswick students be shared with New Brunswick administrators and teaching faculty (TT, NTT, PTLs) and all academic units and their student services, and that this list be made prominently available in the LMS (Learning Management System) sites, and that all teaching faculty consider adding this list of services to their course syllabi.
