Resolution Regarding AAUP-AFT Contract Proposals

Date

BACKGROUND

We believe that all members of the Rutgers community are committed to the goal of Rutgers becoming an even greater university. We also believe that the divide between the faculty and the administration about how to achieve that goal has been growing. As the elected shared governance faculty body in Rutgers-New Brunswick, the New Brunswick Faculty Council (NBFC) is raising its voice to support the proposals of the Rutgers Council of AAUP-AFT Chapter because we believe that these proposals are the way of the future for a great Rutgers University.

RESOLUTION

Be it resolved, the New Brunswick Faculty Council supports the efforts to achieve:

1. Equal pay for equal work, pursuant to addressing gender and inter-campus inequities;

2. Hiring more full-time faculty and graduate teaching assistants;

3. More ethnic and racial diversity among the faculty;

4. Appropriate salary increases, more generous graduate funding packages, and more secure contracts for non-tenure track (NTT) faculty; and

5. Family- and research-friendly work schedules (e.g. more faculty control over Infosilem).
