Resolution on the Learning Resource Centers (LRCs)
Date
Be it resolved that the New Brunswick Faculty Council:
- Recommends that a joint faculty-administration committee, based loosely on the CEFAR model, be established to (i) address faculty and administrative concerns regarding the LRCs and their interactions with faculty and with other academic support and retention programs, (ii) make recommendations for improving the impact and effectiveness of the LRCs, and (iii) devise and implement an effective mechanism for ongoing faculty advice and oversight of the LRCs.
- Strongly urges the university administration to sponsor a comprehensive, rigorous external review of the LRCs, similar to those carried out for academic departments and programs. We further urge that faculty concerns with regard to the LRCs be spelled out in the self-study for the review and that concerned faculty be permitted to interact with the external review committee.
