Of Current Interest
Special announcements, along with committee reports and supporting
documents for the next meeting along with significant material from
recent meetings will be posted here for easy reference.
- Here is the 53
page report of the Rutgers Constituency Research Project
that was featured at the November 2004 meeting of the Council.
- An Open Forum on College Town was held on Friday,
December 10, 2004 at the
Livingston Student Center. Developments on this project will be
posted on the
project web site.
- Following the discussion on the cost of textbooks at the meeting
of March 4, 2005, a discussion
page was started. Additional contributions to this forum are
welcome (see instructions on the page for joining the discussion).
This is an experimental feature; if it proves popular, methods to
allow discussion without a moderated web page will be explored. There
are currently 11 entries; the most recent one submitted on May 17,
2005 (another contribution, submitted earlier by an indirect path, was
added on May 23, 2005). This forum has been moved to Sakai. Members of the University
community may connect to the system, which provides support for both
courses and projects, using a username on rci or eden. Once on Sakai,
look for Cost of Textbooks in the list of Joinable
- The Task Force report contains several recommendations. To aid in
evaluating recommendations on curriculum, here are charts of the requirements of other
AAU universities prepared by Martin Gliserman.
- As reports related to the Task Force report are received, they
will be linked to the resolutions
page. That page was begun on November 21 with the text of the "First
resolution" as it emerged from the meeting on October 28.
- A single document
giving all recommendations, both those already passed and those
scheduled for action on December 2, 2005, is now available.
- A letter from a student
representative following up on a presentation at the March 31,
2006 meeting concerning the impact of proposed budget cuts.
- A vote on the proposed
changes in by-laws is due on June 8, 2006. If you are a member
and have not received a ballot, contact the Council Secretary.

The New Brunswick Faculty Council is seeking a member of the
Council to serve as an “Assistant
Webmaster” to work on the site you are currently visiting. No
special skills with web page design are required – there is no
immediate need for someone to assume full responsibility for the site –
but it would be useful to have an additional member familiar with the
organization of the site. If you are interested, contact the Council Chair.
